Why We Exist
As a first-generation college graduate, HBCU alum, and board-certified physician raised by a single mother in an inner-city community, Dr. Gilbert understands firsthand the transformative power of opportunity, mentorship, and community. After deciding in high school that she wanted to become a physician, she navigated a path that often lacked clear roadmaps but was made possible through meaningful guidance, equitable access, and unwavering determination.
Today, Dr. Gilbert is a physician leader in academic medicine with more than a decade of experience in medical education, advising, mentorship, medical school admissions, and physician workforce development. Through leadership roles across academic medicine, she has helped students, advisors, and institutions develop strategies that foster success throughout the stages of the medical education continuum
BridgeForward 2 Medicine was founded on the belief that talent is universal, but access to opportunity is not. Dr. Gilbert recognizes the journey to medicine is not experienced on a level playing field. Capable, driven students often face barriers that have little to do with their potential. Her mission is to equip aspiring physicians with the mentorship, strategic guidance, and resources they need to navigate those challenges with confidence.
Our work extends beyond one-on-one coaching but also entails working with pre-health advisors, medical students, and higher education institutions committed to developing the next generation of physicians. Whether supporting individuals through pivotal transitions or helping institutions strengthen their educational programs and advising initiatives, BridgeForward 2 Medicine is dedicated to expanding opportunity and fostering excellence across the medical education continuum.
At BridgeForward 2 Medicine, we believe that investing in future physicians creates lasting impact, not only for individual students, but for the patients, communities, and institutions they will one day serve. By building bridges where barriers exist, we help develop compassionate physicians, effective leaders, and changemakers whose lived experiences strengthen the future of healthcare.
